Text engl. - Aperture was co-founded by Minor White in 1952 and edited by him until 1975. Each issue addressed a range of historical and contemporary topics of interest to fine art photographers, including light, abstraction, architecture and chi (Energy). However several issues were dedicated exclusively to the works of: Edward Weston (Vol. 6, no. 1 & Vol. 12, nos. 1-2), Dorothea Lange and Pirkle Jones (Vol. 8, no. 3), Frederick Sommer (Vol. 10, no. 4), Barbara Morgan (Vol. 11, no. 1), Imogen Cunningham (Vol. 11, no. 4), Jerry Uelsmann (Vol. 15, no.4) and Edward S. Curtis (Vol. 16, no. 4).
