Text engl. - Beyond the Body is the result of an unlikely meeting between Tomasz Gudzowaty and Nan Goldin, who represent diametrically different personalities, sensibilities, and modes of artistic creation, yet both of whom stand behind stunningly clear, consistent visions. Goldin draws on Gudzowaty’s rich archive to create her own narrative—detached from its original thematic context and purpose to form a continuous flow of images that reaches a deeper, metaphysical dimension of sport. The people in the photographs—flying, floating, upside down—strive to escape, to liberate themselves from corporeal limitations, and to transcend their physical boundaries in order to attain a mystical state of mind. As Goldin lucidly puts it: “They are breaking the rules of how we are bound to the earth.” (Publisher's text).

Text engl. - This is the first monograph by Tomasz Gudzowaty, presenting a selection of his iconic pictures which have won him numerous awards and international recognition, alongside previously unpublished material. Photography as a New Kind of Love Poem contains two decades of work by Gudzowaty, who dexterously explores a wide range of genres and formats—from social documentary to portraiture, from wildlife to sport, from austere black-and-white pictures in the tradition of photojournalism to sophisticated color compositions. In editing the book, Gudzowaty eschews chronological or thematic order for a sequence shaped by moods and relationships, all unified by his consistent and engaging investigation of the world and human condition. Text engl. (Verlagstext)

Text engl. - „During the past fifteen years of his career as an artist/photographer, Hanson has documented-- often in aerial photographs that are deceptively, inexorably beautiful-- some of the devastations that humans have inflicted and continue to impose upon the environment. Each of the four photographic series in this book provides a different look at the consequences of our actions. - Waste Land opens with a series of photographs of strip mines in Colstrip, Montana that Hanson created in the early 1980s, a series he describes as "a chronicle of entropy, an elegy for a lost landscape." Beginning with photographs depicting trailer parks and company houses-- void of any human presence-- the vantage point moves upwards through images of the community's mine, power plant, and industrial site, to aerial shots that become increasingly abstract. Ultimately, the series reveals Colstrip as arena and metaphor for the use, misuse, and abuse of power. - Hanson's Minuteman Missile Sites series focuses on one aspect of the American industrial and military landscape: bleak aerial views of silos, each containing a missile with a destructive potential nearly a hundred times that of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. These images disclose some of America's secret landscapes; they mirror in both form and content the military's applications of photography for surveillance and targeting.“ (From publisher’s text; see also: www.amazon.com/Waste-Land-Meditations-Ravaged-Landscape/dp/0893817260; seen 02.2018).

Text fr. David Burnett, Sochi, 2014“ ().

Text engl. - „Charles H. Traub’s colorful and spontaneous street portraits were made between 1977 and 1980 on the streets of Chicago, New York, and various European cities. They are direct, intimate and joyous; never exploitive. These remarkable photographs celebrate the whimsy of individuals Traub approached. The photographs place the viewer in a moment of fleeting mutuality between Traub and his subject. Lively pairings drive us from one set of quirks to the next, as we associate one individual with another in a new narrative of the street. - This book is the first comprehensive publication of these images, which were exhibited in the early 80s at the Frumkin Gallery, Chicago; The Hudson River Museum, New York; and Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea, Milan. His previous book Dolce Via: Italy in the 1980s (2013) sold out worldwide only months after its release.“ (Publisher’s text; 02.2018).
