A revised and completed version of the author’s original „L’espion et la fougère, ou la mission de Joseph Hamel chez Talbot, Niépce et Daguerre“, Paris 2003, with a wealth of illuminating details about the invention of photography. Plantureux suggests a much larger part of the invention is due to Niepce’s efforts than hitherto acknowledged.
