A rare special deluxe edition, one of 150 copies issued with a signed photograph. Illustrated with over 200 reproductions of Friedlander's landscape photographs. As an emerging photographer in the 1970s, Friedlander''s audience for his fine art photographic prints was limited. Photography, a burgeoning new field, had yet to attract widespread appreciation in the art market. Thus, for Friedlander, the photo book became his primary medium. Although this publication was published with the esteemed Eakins Press, he founded Haywire Press and self-published several of his own books. The binding of this rare limited edition monograph is sumptuously produced in a vibrant red cover and leather backstrip. And, the deluxe edition also features a signed photograph, which is housed in the rear pastedown of the book.
