His first novel, Americana, was released in 1971, and since then he has become one of today’s foremost literary figures and an abiding influence on a generation of younger authors, among them Jonathan Franzen, Zadie Smith, David Foster Wallace, Jonathan Lethem, and Dave Eggers. He has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, two National Book Awards, a PEN/Faulkner Award, the PEN/Saul Bellow Award, the 2012 Carl Sandburg Literary Award, and the inaugural Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction in 2013. -. In all, DeLillo has written 15 books—including the highly acclaimed White Noise and Underworld—numerous short stories and essays, and five plays, the latest of which is The Word for Snow, originally commissioned by the Chicago Humanities Festival, and produced on October 27, 2007, by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. This premiere publication of the work utilizes facsimiles of DeLillo’s original typescripts for the text, and features six photographs specially selected by Richard Prince for the edition from his own “Upstate” series. A unique and stirring collaboration between two celebrated American artists.“ (Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, New York, 09.2014)
