Text engl. - Other edition: Smaller edition, Cologne et al: Taschen 2010. - „The secret life of America's Bible Belt - swinging sex lives of everyday Americans. Naomi Harris's subjects are not the usual perfected androids who populate contemporary erotica, but ordinary people with extraordinary sex lives; this book explores a rarely-seen side of sex in America. This edition is limited to 1,000 numbered copies, signed by both Naomi Harris and Richard Prince. The cover features a four-color, silk screened, 3-dimensional stamped metal reproduction of a classic American motel sign, specially conceived and created for this edition. - Richard Prince discovered Naomi Harris in TASCHEN's The New Erotic Photography and was so intrigued by her photos of American swingers that he tracked down the 34-year-old New Yorker, determined to make her his protégé. When he discovered TASCHEN had signed her to do America Swings he asked to do an interview with her, where he reveals part of what makes her work so unique: "When I look at one of your swinger photos what I'm looking at is mostly you ‘outside' the picture looking at what you're photographing … half-naked, all naked, taking these photos of next-door neighbors having sex …” He refers to Harris's secret for winning the confidence of her subjects: To penetrate the world of middle class mate-swapping she had to join them, often working in just shoes and a tool belt to hold her camera gear. Her extreme technique worked so well that in 48 months she was able to photograph 38 parties, crisscrossing the country from Mahwah, New Jersey, to Pleasanton, California; from Big Lake, Minnesota, to Washington, Texas. Her subjects are not the usual perfected androids who populate contemporary erotica, but ordinary people with extraordinary sex lives, including multi-orgasmic schoolteachers, polyamorous nurses, bi-sexual senior citizens and the Mandingos, a group of African-American men who service white wives. Text engl. - „With 'The girl next door' Richard Prince re-indexes the visual material of the world around him, mixing the contrived imagery of today's media culture with real snapshots to create a sharp vision of our life and times. Richard Prince works with a virtually inexhaustible source - reproduced pictures. He photographs advertisements and magazine pictures, manipulates shots of sunsets or assembles tableaus from picture clippings. And yet, this kind of 're-photography' is not meant as a criticism, rather, Prince is interested in the appeal of the images. He creates a 'second' reality, evoking questions about credibility in the viewer's mind. In this, the act of photographing is an intimate, even personal moment in which Prince approaches the real image as if his object were you or I, or simply 'the girl next door.' The book of photographs of the same title is a collection of a number of electrifying, more recent works by Prince, taking stock of America today with a gripping blend of pre-made media pictures and real snapshots.“ (Publisher’s text).

Text engl. - Published in 2 editions: a) 875 in plain orange wrappers and pictorial color dust jacket with French flaps; b) 125 in gray cloth with inset color photograph, signed by both DeLillo and Prince. - „Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, in conjunction with Karma, is pleased to announce our joint publication of The Word for Snow, a previously unpublished one act play by Don DeLillo, illustrated with photographs by Richard Prince. - Describing his fiction as examinations of people “living in dangerous times,” DeLillo’s work has probed such diverse topics as professional sports, technology, international espionage, film, the Cold War, language, and the Kennedy assassination. His first novel, Americana, was released in 1971, and since then he has become one of today’s foremost literary figures and an abiding influence on a generation of younger authors, among them Jonathan Franzen, Zadie Smith, David Foster Wallace, Jonathan Lethem, and Dave Eggers. He has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, two National Book Awards, a PEN/Faulkner Award, the PEN/Saul Bellow Award, the 2012 Carl Sandburg Literary Award, and the inaugural Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction in 2013. -. In all, DeLillo has written 15 books—including the highly acclaimed White Noise and Underworld—numerous short stories and essays, and five plays, the latest of which is The Word for Snow, originally commissioned by the Chicago Humanities Festival, and produced on October 27, 2007, by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. This premiere publication of the work utilizes facsimiles of DeLillo’s original typescripts for the text, and features six photographs specially selected by Richard Prince for the edition from his own “Upstate” series. A unique and stirring collaboration between two celebrated American artists.“ (Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, New York, 09.2014)
