„Renowned photographer Albert Watson recently spent 39 memorable days in Morocco. With the personal insight of a diarist and the detailed eye of an artist, he has captured the physical beauty and spirit of this remarkable country in transition. From thousands of photographs on an itinerary that took him all over the country, Watson has culled the most evocative. These luxurious platinum prints, some with antique sepia tones, combine with Arabic calligraphy or Moroccan manuscript pages to conjure a feeling of the place, its history, its future. - From Casablanca and other major cities to villages, farms, and remote desert areas, here are portraits, extraordinary landscapes, architecture, and animals. Watson has captured the souls of Moroccans from all walks of life-members of the royal family and the heads of provinces, grizzled farmers, and women and children. In words as well as pictures, Watson speaks of Morocco's people and its promise, and gives his personal impressions of the country. - This book carries Albert Watson beyond his brilliant fashion photography, seen in the pages of Vogue and Harpers Bazaar, to a multi-layered art that reveals the life of a country and the journey of an artist. Albert Watson is an internationally known fashion photographer whose previous book, Cyclops, was an immediate success. His work appears regularly in the world's top fashion magazines“. Auckland: PQ Blackwell Limited 2010 (?). - „One of the world’s most successful photographers, Albert Watson is known for graphic, sculptural images that capture the essence of people, places, and things. His has been a career of unparallelled productivity, ranging from fashion to iconic portraits to reportage. His first book, Cyclops, published in 1994, established him as a leading photographic talent who combined a brilliant vision with extreme technical excellence. UFO — which stands for Unified Fashion Objectives —presents a 40-year retrospective of Watson’s best work, pulled from his vast archive. In its pages, a memorable era of style, beauty, fashion, personality, and power is captured for posterity. UFO is a landmark publishing event from one of the world’s greatest photographers.“ (Publisher’s text).

Text ital. - „For his exhibition at Forma, Albert Watson takes on the role of a white rabbit, the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, and he invites us to follow him through the extraordinary world of his images. A journey of visual and intellectual anamneses that the author has compiled, through experience and observation, image by image; astonishing new photographs, startling portraits and grandiose panoramas. His most recent work on Las Vegas, alongside famous images, celebrity portraits, fashion, and the disturbing and silent allure of objects from which Watson endeavours to capture the essence. - Instead of having just one or two paths to take, I can choose from any number of possible paths, and I find myself in the situation of the boy and the rock. I have many available solutions, and the choice is sometimes very difficult, because among all these solutions I have to choose the right one. However, I have learnt that the right solution is nearly always the simplest. - Albert Watson was born in Scotland in 1942. After finishing his studies at the Royal College of Art in London, he moved to the USA at the beginning of the seventies. He opened a studio in Los Angeles and in New York. Despite a serious physical disability (he is blind in one eye) he soon became famous as a fashion and portrait photographer, for magazines such as Vogue, Rolling Stone, The Face, VIBE and Newsweek, and his work has appeared on the cover of leading international publications. Apart from creating several advertising campaigns for cosmetics and clothing corporations such as Gap, Levi’s, Revlon and Chanel, he has directed over 500 TV commercials and short movies. In his frequent travels all over the world, from Morocco to Europe and the USA, he has consolidated his own very precise vision, which makes him a reference for originality, innovation and language. His work has been collected in important photography books, including Cyclops (1994), Maroc (1998) and in major solo exhibitions.“ (http://www.formafoto.it/_com/asp/page.asp?g=m&s=c&l=ing&id_pag={C0A975DE-505D-4840-906C-408EF4371677}).
