Text dt., engl. - In seinem Photobuch "The Raw and the Cooked" zieht Peter Bialobrzeski die Essenz aus den Beobachtungen seiner einzigartigen Photoserien über die Entwicklung der asiatischen Megastädte (Neon Tigers, Lost in Transition) und deren Slums (Case Study Homes): Ausgehend von der einfachsten, von den Bewohnern selbst gezimmerten vernacular architecture, die sich am menschlichen Maß orientiert und vorgefundene Baustoffe verwendet, spannen seine Bilder den Bogen bis hin zur Maßlosigkeit der Reißbrettstädte aus Glas, Stahl und Beton. Text engl.

Text cz., summary engl. - " At the end of 1898 Bedrich Machulka (1875-1954), along with his friend Richard Štorch (1877-1922), travelled to North Africa, where, in Libya, started his career as a traveller, organiser of safari hunting expeditions, dealer in natural products and expert on African wild life. Apart from collecting natural products, both companions also devoted themselves to photography, an activity they never, for the duration of their African stay, desisted from. The collection comprises 3163 negatives. Geographically, the negatives come from the areas where Machulka stayed, that is from Libya, Madagascar, Sudan, Egypt, Oganda, Belgian Congo, Tangayica (today´s Tanzania) and Kenia. They cover the period between 1888 and 1935, the year when Machulka brought his pursuits on the African continent to an end. The publication summarizes the principal data of Bedrich Machulka´s life, deals with his sojourn in different parts of Africa and offers assessment of his photographic work."(Asia Photobooks Peter van der Kamp, 12.2014).

Text cz., summaries engl., span. - "The publication deals with the character of the famous Czech traveller, Enrique Stanko Vráz, and presents a selection of his unique photographs to the reader. The text is divided into three chapters, each of them devoted to one aspect of the life of this personality – Vráz’s as yet unexplained origin, Vráz’s world travels and Vraz’s photographic activities. The pictorial insertion contains photographs from the years 1885 to 1904 of the regions of Africa (Gold Coast – today’s Ghana, the Canary Islands), South, North and Central America and Asia (Japan, Kalimantan, New Guinea, Thailand, China, Korea, Siberia)."
