Buch
Text and research by Fontcuberta and Formiguera. Illustrated with reproductions of photographs by Fontcuberta. "Fauna" was originally published by the magazine "European Photography," and purports to present the journals, notes, maps, sketches, and photographs of a recently "discovered" archive of a scientist named Dr. Peter Ameisenhaufen. This book presents these materials as proof that Ameisenhaufen discovered mutated animals (a snake with short legs, or a rabbit with fiercely sharp teeth, for example) in the far edges of the world. A convincing spoof, and a serious comment on photography''s role as a purveyor of truth. (Auct. Swann Photographic Litertaure & Photographs, sale 2166, lot 86, New York, NY, 12 Dec. 2008).
