Text cz. - Hipman had made many photographs of Czech industry both before and during the Second World War. They are gathered in this book which was issued at Christmas as a tribute to the recently liberated ‘heroic workers’ of Czechoslovakia. [Oliver Wood Rare books, photographs and archives; 12.2014]. Photogravures depicting factories, coal mines, stone-pits and their various people at work.

Most New Yorkers know it only as an icon on the landscape, multiplied on T-shirts and skateboard graphics.
