Dübner, une vie d'Horace en français par M. Noël des Vergers, une préface intéressante de M. Ambroise-Firmin Didot. Le volume est décoré d'un joli frontispice et de vignettes pour chaque livre, par M. Barrias, et des exemplaires ont de plus les plans de la villa d'Horace et des campagnes environnantes, dressés par M. Rosa, et en outre les vues de ses campagnes, dessinées sur les lieux par M. Benouville." (Brunet III, 325). - Die Ansichten bzw. Pläne zeigen Lage und Umgebung von Horaz' ehemaligem Landhaus. "The editor of the Horace refers to photography as the 'marvel of our century' ... occassionally photographs of engravings were vitilized in books of poems as a vehicle to reproduce drawings or engravings: the 1855 Horace ... In both cases photographs replace engravings, assuming more of a functional than esthetic role" (The truthful lens, New York 1980, no. 179).
