Text engl./dt./fr. - Katalog, Rupertinum Salzburg 2002. Der von June Newton konzipierte Band würdigt das Spätwerk von Helmut Newton in 75 großformatigen, hochwertigen Abbildungen. Dazu gehören - selbstverständlich - die starken Frauen, die ihn berühmt gemacht haben und die er in selbstbewussten Rollenbildern und provozierenden Aktfotografien abgelichtet hat. Es gibt aber auch einen neuen Newton zu entdecken, der in sensiblen Nachtaufnahmen das Glitzern des Mondes über dem Meer oder den düsteren weiten Horizont der Wüste Nevadas einfängt und aus Landschaftsfotografien Stimmungsbilder macht. Auch hier ist das Moment der Inszenierung, das er für seine Frauenakte benutzt, erkennbar: öde Landstriche, verlassene Landbahnen und ins Nichts laufende Landstraßen muten an wie ein surrealistisches Filmset.
